Literacy Enrichment Opportunities (L.E.O.) Initiative
March 19, 2018
tToL, Inc. is proud to foster the literacy skills of youth. From intervention to enrichment, our Instructional Program will encourage students read and discuss thought-provoking content, engage in writing experiences (prose and poetry) inspired by their lives and experiences.
We transform students’ abilities and attitudes towards reading, writing, and all content areas, as literacy is not only the ability to read and write, but competence or knowledge in a specified area.
Experienced educators will deliver authentic instruction with high engagement. Our dedicated volunteers will provide motivational support and serve as mentors. We provide safe learning environments for practice, exploration, and social-emotional growth.
21st Century Leading Ladies is developed and implemented by O. Cuevas and L. Wilkins as a need was necessary in order to close the gap in services provided for court involved and at-risk females; specifically interpersonal skills. We have seen several character education/mentorship groups work with our population and we have identified the main component in an effective program as client buy-in. We understand that in order to affect change in youth, you must first have an established foundation and rapport. Our entire staff works with these youth daily (in capacities as: teachers, BMTs, SROs, and other specialists) and this is what distinguishes our program. Our young ladies collaborated with CMPD and TPA's Summer Exposure Experience (S.E.E.) Program.
